New footage of the February 6 earthquakes emerges

The first earthquake, which occurred at 04:17 in the morning and affected 11 provinces with a magnitude of 7.7, caused thousands of buildings to collapse, tens of thousands of people to lose their lives, and left many homeless. The newly released footage covers streets, boulevards, and some overpasses, particularly in the Dulkadiroğlu and Onikişubat districts of Kahramanmaraş.

City Security Management System (KGYS) records also highlight a striking detail: a bright, intense light that appeared in the sky during the first moments of the earthquake. Experts state that such lights can occur due to reasons such as sudden fractures in the Earth's crust and the snapping of power lines.

In the footage, some buildings are seen being leveled within seconds. The moments when streetlights swayed, a massive cloud of dust rose, and people fled in panic were recorded. Elevator cameras on overpasses also clearly captured the earthquake. The shaking inside an elevator demonstrated the impact of the violent tremors.

‘VEHICLES CAUGHT IN THE EARTHQUAKE WHILE IN MOTION'

Vehicles in traffic were also captured in the footage. Some drivers were seen braking suddenly, while some vehicles changed lanes due to the shaking. Additionally, moments when concrete debris fell onto the roads and some traffic lights toppled were also recorded.

The newly emerged footage serves as a reminder of the magnitude of the February 6 earthquakes while refreshing the painful scars of the disaster.
