Video of Özlem Gültekin before her death emerges: 'If anything happens to me...'
A video of Op. Dr. Özlem Gültekin, who was found dead in her clinic in İzmir, taken before she passed away, has emerged. In the video, it is reported that Gültekin said, "If anything happens to me, Erhan Çelik is responsible."
The forensic medical report regarding the death of 48-year-old Obstetrician and Gynecologist Op. Dr. Özlem Gültekin, who was found dead in her clinic in İzmir on the morning of August 14, has been released to the public. According to the report, the cause of Gültekin's death was poisoning due to a drug called propofol, which is used in anesthesia.
Following the death of Gültekin, who was initially stated to have suffered a heart attack, a video said to have been recorded on January 26, 2026, became a topic of discussion on social media. In the video, Gültekin is seen saying, "If anything happens to me, Erhan Çelik is responsible," and detailing her claims regarding her divorce process, the custody of her child, and her assets.
In the video, Gültekin stated that she was setting off for Ankara for a US visa at that time and expressed concern that something might happen to her. Claiming that she was having trouble with the handover of her child, Gültekin also expressed her wish for her assets to be used for her son's education and care.
MUTUAL STATEMENTS FROM THE PARTIES
Following the circulation of the video, presenter Erhan Çelik issued a written statement. Çelik claimed that the video was old and that Gültekin had later expressed regret and apologized due to this process. He described the resurfacing of the video on the day the autopsy report was released as an attempt to "distract public attention from the cause of death."
In his statement, Çelik alleged that Gültekin had an addiction problem that he claimed dated back years. Stating that he made efforts for her treatment from 2023 until the divorce case he filed in 2025, Çelik claimed that family members did not inform him about this issue. Çelik also stated that he had filed a criminal complaint against those who provided drugs to Gültekin or were involved in this process.
In a statement made on behalf of the Gültekin family, it was emphasized that the family's priority is the best interest and mental development of the 6-year-old child who lost his mother. The family stated that they would not make any visual or video statements to any media organization, arguing that they are careful about privacy and that the same sensitivity was not shown by Çelik.
In the family's statement, various allegations were made against Çelik regarding physical and psychological violence, pressure, and his attitude during the divorce process. It was alleged that Çelik requested a DNA test regarding the child, continued to live in a residence belonging to Gültekin without her consent, and objected to the appointment of a trustee regarding the inheritance.
With the mutual statements of the parties, Gültekin's death has returned to the agenda through the forensic medical report and the video reflected on social media. It is stated that the allegations and criminal complaints regarding the process will be evaluated by judicial authorities.
