CHP council members were not allowed into the Esenyurt Municipality building today (November 4). The council members reacted to the situation.

Members who arrived before the police barricade in the early morning hours also claimed they were subjected to violence. CHP members stated they were forcibly removed. CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik announced that they would obtain medical reports for the assault and file a complaint.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın, who arrived because elected and incumbent members were not being allowed into Esenyurt Municipality, spoke with the police. Günaydın spoke for minutes, stating that this police practice was unlawful. Although he pointed out that following an unlawful order is a crime, the police did not listen to Günaydın.

Footage emerged of Günaydın attempting to enter the municipal building alone. Although Günaydın stated that he was a member of parliament and therefore had legal immunity, the police did not listen. While trying to enter, Günaydın was surrounded by police.

During this time, the police were seen shoving Günaydın. Günaydın shared the footage on his X account with the words, 'Barricades for the border, not for an MP'.
