Police block Fernas workers: March to Parliament prevented

The protest by workers who were dismissed after joining the Independent Mine Workers' Union (Bağımsız Maden İş) at Fernas Mining, located in the Soma district of Manisa and owned by AKP MP Ferhat Nasıroğlu, continues. 

On the 46th day of their resistance, the workers wanted to march from Kurtuluş Park to Parliament in Ankara, but their march was blocked by the police.

'WE WILL NOT ABANDON OUR WILL'

In a statement on its social media account, the Independent Mine Workers' Union stated that they had announced days in advance that they would march to Parliament, but that no steps had been taken to resolve the issues.

The union stated, "Now, the path of the miners who want to march to Parliament is being blocked. The miners will not abandon their will, no matter the outcome, and they will march to Parliament!"

'IT IS NOT US WHO DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE LAW, BUT THE MP-BOSS'

Stating that the march was blocked by law enforcement on the grounds that it was against the law, the Independent Mine Workers' Union declared, "We said days ago that if there was no solution, we would march to Parliament. No matter the outcome, we are starting our march to Parliament!"

The protest by Fernas Mining workers continues in defense of their union rights.
