Police conduct drug operation using drones

Police teams fighting against drugs in Istanbul raided an address where cannabis, used in the production of marijuana, was being grown in the garden. During the operation, in which police used drones, 58 cannabis plants were seized in the garden of the property. A suspect who arrived at the house by car and attempted to flee upon noticing the operation was apprehended by police teams.

Teams from the Sultanbeyli District Police Department determined that drugs were being grown at an address located in the Necip Fazıl Neighborhood. Based on the information obtained, a decision was made to conduct an operation. During the raid, which also involved special operations police, the police used a drone to conduct aerial surveillance.

ATTEMPTED TO FLEE UPON NOTICING POLICE

The police did not find anyone at the raided address. However, during the operation, a car pulled up to the property. The driver wanted to flee upon realizing there was an operation. The drone operator noticed the situation and informed the teams. The suspect, Ömer G., was apprehended by police teams.

CANNABIS GARDEN

While the suspect was taken into custody, a search was conducted in the house with the assistance of a detector dog. During the search, 2 kilograms and 700 grams of cannabis, which is also used in the production of marijuana, were seized. It was understood that cannabis was being grown in the garden of the address. 58 cannabis plants, ranging in height from 1 to 3 meters, were uprooted by police teams. A pump-action shotgun was also found in the house.

RELEASED

It was learned that the homeowner is being sought by police teams in connection with the incident. Proceedings were initiated against the detained suspect for “Violation of the Law on the Control of Narcotic Substances” and “Manufacturing and Trafficking of Narcotic or Stimulant Substances.” Ömer G. was released by judicial authorities under judicial control provisions.
