Police officer and journalist assaulted in brawl at bar

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning at a bar in the New Industrial Site.

ASSAULT ON POLICE

A dispute broke out for unknown reasons between a customer and undercover police officers who were accompanying Nazilli Municipality municipal police and District Health Directorate teams conducting a smoking inspection at the venue. During the argument, Uğur K. and his son Cevdet K. attacked the security forces. As the father and son hurled insults at the police teams, backup police units were requested at the scene.
Journalist Günay Pabuşçu, who was at the venue during the incident, began filming the events with his mobile phone.

JOURNALIST ATTACKED FOR FILMING

Noticing that they were being recorded, the venue staff also assaulted Pabuşçu. The staff threatened Pabuşçu and forced him to delete the footage from his mobile phone. Backup police teams arrived at the scene shortly after and intervened. Uğur K., his son Cevdet K., and the venue staff involved in the incident were taken into custody. The events were recorded moment by moment by the venue's security cameras.

Following their processing at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse, where the venue staff were released by judicial authorities. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
