Postponement of credit card fee proposal came as a surprise to the AKP too: CHP member reveals

AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler announced that the regulation proposing a 750 TL annual tax on credit cards has been postponed. It was notable that this postponement came immediately after the MHP and AKP groups had praised the bill. CHP's Ağbaba reacted to this tragicomic situation in a post.

The deliberations on the legislative proposal, which would introduce a permanent annual service fee to generate 70-80 billion TL in additional revenue to be transferred to the Defense Industry Support Fund, were postponed in the TBMM Planning and Budget Committee following harsh criticism from the opposition.

AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler stated that the deliberations have been postponed until after the 2025 budget negotiations.

Güler said, "The deliberations have been postponed. We will conduct a detailed review. We will see our 2025 budget and we will examine other items that may be needed in detail; we will re-evaluate any issues that need to be changed or withdrawn after the budget. We can say that it has been left for the period after the budget is completed at the end of December."

REMARKABLE POST FROM VELİ AĞBABA

CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba made a statement in a video he recorded after the postponement in the committee, saying that even the AKP and MHP deputies were unaware of the postponement.

Ağbaba described the events as tragicomic and used the following expressions:

A decision came from the heavens to the committee! While the tax package was being discussed in the committee, it was suddenly terminated.

When we asked 'When will it come back,' we were told that the law could return to the Planning and Budget Committee if an order comes.

The MHP group praised it, and after the AKP group spokesperson praised this law, the law was postponed. The praises of the AKP and MHP groups went to waste! The point that state seriousness has reached is truly tragicomic!
