Prof. Dr. Atakan Yalçın and his daughter, who lost their lives in the hotel fire, laid to rest
Prof. Dr. Atakan Yalçın, Head of the International Finance Department at Özyeğin University Faculty of Business, and his daughter Derin Yalçın, who lost their lives in the hotel fire in Bolu, were laid to rest at a funeral ceremony held in Ataşehir.
78 people lost their lives in the fire that broke out at the 12-story Grand Kartal Hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, where 238 people were staying.
A funeral ceremony was held at the Ataşehir Mimar Sinan Mosque for Prof. Dr. Atakan Yalçın and his daughter Derin Yalçın, who lost their lives in the fire.

The funeral was attended by Atakan Yalçın's wife Yaprak Yeşilada Yalçın, his daughter Defne Zeynep Yalçın, the Yalçın family's relatives and loved ones, as well as former Minister of Justice Seyfi Oktay, Deputy Governor of Istanbul Mustafa Kaya, Ataşehir District Governor Bekir Dınkırcı, Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel, Prof. Dr. Özgür Demirtaş, and citizens.
ÖZGÜR DEMİRTAŞ HAD SHARED THE TRAGIC NEWS
From the very first moments of the fire, Özgür Demirtaş had issued calls for help for his close friend Atakan Yalçın and later shared the tragic news with his followers.

Atakan Yalçın, who had served as the Head of the International Finance Department at the Özyeğin University Faculty of Business since 2012, and his daughter Derin Yalçın were laid to rest in tears at the Ihlamurkuyu Cemetery in Ümraniye following the funeral prayer held after the noon prayer.
