Rabia Naz's father Şaban Vatan is going to prison: Should the killers or the father be behind bars?
Şaban Vatan, the father of 11-year-old Rabia Naz Vatan, who died under suspicious circumstances seven years ago, announced in a social media post that he will enter prison on Monday and expressed his outrage at what he has been through.
11-year-old Rabia Naz Vatan, who died under suspicious circumstances in the Eynesil district of Giresun on April 12, 2018, was Turkey's top agenda item for months. Her father, Şaban Vatan, claimed that his daughter did not commit suicide but was "murdered," and spent a long time striving to find his daughter's killer.
While the veil of mystery over Rabia Naz's death remains, the grieving father has now come to the fore with a video in which he announced that he will be going to prison.
In the video where he announced that he was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison due to a defamation lawsuit filed by former AKP deputy Nurettin Canikli and that he will enter prison on Monday, Şaban Vatan expressed his reaction with the words;
"Should the killers be tried and imprisoned, or a father who is fighting for his daughter?"
