The Civil Traffic teams of the Istanbul Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate imposed an administrative fine on a driver named R.Ö. who was seen drifting on social media.

The following statement was included in the announcement:

20 THOUSAND 342 LIRA FINE FOR DRIFTING

"In the inspections carried out by our Civil Traffic teams of the Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate regarding footage shared on social media; it was determined that the driver of the vehicle with license plate 34 FEC 614, who was seen in footage reflected on social media on 26/10/2023 changing the direction of the vehicle suddenly and spinning the vehicle around itself in a manner contrary to the normal flow of traffic, was R.Ö., and he was apprehended by our teams.

A total administrative fine of 25,793 TL was imposed on the driver of the vehicle with license plate 34 FEC 614, R.Ö., consisting of 20,342 TL under Article 67/1-D of the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918 (deliberately and intentionally pulling the handbrake to suddenly change the direction of the vehicle on highways, drifting), 951 TL under Article 30/1-B (using vehicles with ornaments, accessories, and smoke-emitting devices that obstruct vision), 4,064 TL under Article 32/3 (modified exhaust), and 436 TL under Article 73/A (driving in a manner that disturbs the peace and comfort of the public). The driver's license of R.Ö. has been temporarily suspended for 60 days, and the vehicle with license plate 34 FEC 614 has been impounded and banned from traffic for 60 days."
