Tanju Özcan removes sign of association belonging to Afghan refugees
Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, from the CHP, who has drawn attention with his decisions regarding refugees living in the city, had the sign of an association established by Afghan temporary refugees removed.
Mayor Özcan, who went to the Bolu Afghanistan Youth Social Cultural and Solidarity Association located in the Semerkant neighborhood, called the Head of the Municipal Police Department by phone and instructed teams to come to his location.
At a time when no one was in the association building, municipal police teams, acting on Mayor Özcan's instructions, removed the association sign hanging on the building.
Sharing the footage of the moment the sign was taken down on his social media account, Tanju Özcan expressed his reaction with the following words:
"As long as I am in office, no one can or will be able to hang such signs in Bolu without our knowledge.
I will not allow Arabic signs to be hung in this city, nor will I allow 'Temporary Refugees' to come together in this way. Let those who hung this sign here come and ask me for it."
