She told the taxi driver 'they should shoot men like you': 'Let us not end up like our friend'

Mehmet Cihan, who works as a taxi driver in Aydın's Efeler district, picked up a passenger around 03:45 last night. 

The passengers who got into the taxi caused difficult moments for the driver. A female passenger sitting in the front seat first began to swear at the taxi driver. 

Taxi driver Cihan informed the female passenger that the camera inside the vehicle was recording and warned her not to swear. Despite this, the female passenger continued her profanities, saying, “They shoot taxi drivers like you from behind, let them shoot. They should shoot men like you."

The taxi driver's patient attitude in the face of the profanities and insults was captured on camera.

Following the incident, taxi driver Cihan went to the Efeler District Police Department's Police Station, gave a statement, and filed a complaint against the woman who threatened and insulted him. Speaking to reporters as he left the station, Cihan described the moment of the incident, saying, “I am struggling to earn a living for my 2 children. I don't think the result should be this.”

“LET US NOT END UP LIKE OUR FRIEND IN İZMİR"

Stating that they do not want their end to be like their friend in İzmir, Cihan said the following:

“She got in as a passenger, then she became ugly. Then that incident on social media happened. I was very saddened. We were scared, of course. After all, 3 days ago, a friend of ours passed away in İzmir. We want a measure to be taken before more lives are lost. Now I have given my formal statement. I have filed a complaint. Whatever the law requires will be done. We do not want our end to be like that of our friend in İzmir. After all, he had 2 children, and I have 2 children. We are out in these fields. The most important issue is not the insult she made. It is not the profanities she directed at me. The profanity she directed at me is of course important. Everyone lives for their honor and dignity, but it is not even the profanity she directed at me. It is the statements she made while getting out. When you look at it, a life with 2 children is gone. He was murdered. Why was he murdered? He was murdered for money. While we are driving, we should look ahead, not behind us, but under those conditions, we got into an argument. She is swearing at us. In this case, should I look to my side, should I look at the road, or should I check if a knife or a gun is coming at me from behind? Where should I look? It is a shame. For a life where you don't know what will happen 10 seconds later. It is difficult. I am struggling to earn a living for my 2 children. Is this the result? I don't think the result should be this. I have a 2-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son.”
