Teacher Emine, whose remarks on the 'Century of Turkey' went viral, dismissed: She had defended the Republic!
Teacher Emine Karakaş, who defended the Republic in a speech she gave on October 29 and whose remarks on the 'Century of Turkey' became a trending topic, has been dismissed at the request of the Directorate of National Education.
Emine Karakaş, a Turkish language and literature teacher working at a private school in Antalya, had become a trending topic and was targeted following a speech she gave at an October 29 Republic Day event. Teacher Emine had been released after being taken into custody.
"A MINT FOR ARABS, A MADHOUSE FOR US..."
In her speech, Karakaş had said the following:
“They are trying to destroy the Republic while benefiting from all its blessings, alongside those who refrain from even mentioning its name, while others are ready to give their lives for it. On one side are those who sacrificed their lives a century ago to have the Republic written into the constitution; on the other are those who are trying to destroy it today and make everyone believe in the fairy tale of the 'Century of Turkey.'
So, where are you while all this is happening? Did you know the value of your republic, which was founded 100 years ago, the value of the word freedom? Have you truly grasped the meaning of the word freedom? Have you thanked the Creator for every day you do not serve as a slave to others? Where are you while your vast country is being turned into a mint for Arabs, a shopping mall for Bulgarians, a maternity ward for Syrians, and a madhouse for us?
Where are you while the 'Republic of Turkey' signs are being removed, and a group that cannot recite the national anthem without looking at a paper, or does not deign to stand up while the national anthem is being played, labels young female athletes and talks about nationalism?"
DISMISSED, SALARY CUT
According to the report in Cumhuriyet; it was learned that with a letter sent by the Directorate of National Education to the school in question on January 12, it was requested that Karakaş's employment contract be terminated and her salary be cut.
"WE HAVE FILED A LAWSUIT"
Karakaş's lawyer, Ali Çelik, said, “With the letter from the Directorate of National Education, Karakaş's employment contract was unilaterally terminated. We have filed 3 separate lawsuits regarding the process for her reinstatement and the compensation for her salary cuts.”
