'TARGETING THE CENTURY OF TURKEY' CITED AS REASON
In a written statement issued by the Provincial Police Department, it was stated: “Following the sharing of footage on social media accounts of a speech made by a female literature teacher during Republic celebrations at the Turkish Education Association (TED) Antalya College, located in the Muratpaşa district, and based on opinions that the content of the speech targeted the Century of Turkey, that politics was being conducted in an educational institution, and that it displayed a divisive attitude that damaged unity and solidarity, the suspect E.K. was apprehended by teams from the Provincial Police Department's Security Branch upon the instructions of the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Legal proceedings are being conducted against the individual for the crime of 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting'”.
