The incident occurred 4 days ago in Çemberlitaş, Fatih. 42-year-old Mauritian national Mohammed A.F.B. wanted to withdraw money from ATMs located in Çemberlitaş. Two people approached Mohammed A.F.B., who did not know how to perform the transaction at the ATM, and told him they could help.

2 MILLION LIRAS GONE FROM HIS ACCOUNT

One of the suspects, who took Mohammed A.F.B.'s credit card, tried to assist him by explaining how he would help. After a while, Mohammed A.F.B. took his card back, and after performing his transaction, he realized that 2 million liras worth of purchases had been made on his credit card account. Shocked, Mohammed A.F.B. went straight to the police.

HE FILED A COMPLAINT

Mohammed A.F.B. told the police what had happened and filed a complaint. In his complaint, he stated that he did not understand how 2 million liras worth of purchases were made from his account. Upon this, teams from the Public Security Branch Office's Pickpocketing and Fraud Bureau took action. The police, who examined security camera footage from the area, determined that the transaction was made from the credit card using a POS device.

SUSPECTS CAUGHT

Following the investigation, it was determined that the suspects were Fethi B. (34), who has 17 records for various crimes, and Hamit G. (40), who has 1 criminal record. The suspects were caught in an operation. In the home of suspect Fethi B., 3 POS devices, transaction slips for the amounts withdrawn from the complainant's credit card, and an unlicensed pistol were seized.

HE WAS CARRYING THE POS DEVICE WITH HIM

In the investigation conducted at the Public Security Branch Office, the method used by the fraudsters was staggering. It was revealed that the suspects committed the fraud using a POS device they carried on them. Fethi B., one of the fraudsters who approached Mohammed A.F.B. under the guise of helping, used sleight of hand to make 3 separate transactions from the complainant's card via the POS device, pulling off a 2 million lira heist. One million 900 thousand liras of the money that had been transferred to the suspect's company accounts were seized. Fethi B., who was sent to the courthouse after the investigation, was arrested. His accomplice was released under judicial control conditions.
