TKH takes to the streets: 'A bright, independent, socialist Turkey'

The Communist Movement of Turkey (TKH) held a demonstration in Kadıköy on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic.

Following the march that began at Mehmet Ayvalıtaş Park, a press statement was made at Altıyol, where TKH Central Committee Member and Istanbul Provincial Secretary Ahmet Tarık Yenil delivered the first speech.

''THEY HAVE FINISHED THE REPUBLIC''

Yenil stated the following in his speech:

“We cannot celebrate the centenary of the Republic. Because they have finished the Republic. They have trampled on secularism and ended our independence. They have placed this country under the yoke of imperialism. The citizenship, secularism, independence, and public-mindedness that emerged a century ago with the War of Independence have been trampled upon and finished by a reactionary government as of today. That is why I want to address you as citizens. Hello, citizens.

''THE BOSS CLASS IN THIS COUNTRY HAS NO PLACE TO HIDE''

They are trying to turn us into subjects. They are trying to lock women in their homes and establish a system of polygamy. Because their roots are abroad. The roots of the sharia supporters in Turkey are abroad. They are fed by imperialism; let us not forget this. The bosses of this country, the capitalist class, remembered the Republic when the centenary arrived, and even then, only for their own brand values. You have exploited the laborers of this country, everyone who produces value in this country, to the bone. You did not produce a car, you did not produce metal; you turned this country into a slave of the stock market's finance capital. The capital class of this country has no place to hide. The boss class in this country has no place to hide. Let us not forget this either.”

''THE REPUBLIC WAS NOT WON EASILY''

Following Yenil's speech, TKH General Chair Aysel Tekerek said the following:

“Today, in this country, the capitalist class and the bosses have torn the Republic to pieces and devoured it. The Republic was not won easily. Liberation from imperialism was certainly not easy. The founding was not easy either.

''WE WILL WIN THIS FIGHT''

Our fight is against the reactionaries, the enemies of the Republic, the capitalist class, the bigots, and the imperialists who today line up alongside Israel, which is drenching the world in blood and raining bombs down on Palestinian children. But they should not get their hopes up; we will win this fight just as we won it 100 years ago.

Are we at a dead end? Absolutely not. Because we know that if the capitalist class has destroyed this country today, the ones who will save it will be the working class, who stand directly against that capitalist class.”
