Tolga Şardan: I only did journalism, I stand by what I wrote

T24 columnist Şardan was detained on Wednesday, November 1, due to his article stating that "the Presidency requested a report from the MİT regarding what is happening in the judiciary," and was arrested following his interrogation by the prosecutor's office. Şardan, who was taken to Sincan Prison, was transferred to Silivri Prison the following day.

It was decided that Şardan, who was being held at Silivri Prison, would be released on the condition of a "travel ban." Upon his release, Şardan said, "I only did journalism, I tried to inform the public. I stand by what I wrote."

Tolga Şardan's statements are as follows:

"Within the framework of the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, I was arrested in Ankara on Wednesday evening and first sent to Sincan Prison. The next day, I was transferred to the Istanbul Silivri Closed Penal Institution, and I was held there until 17:45 this evening.

Ultimately, at the point we have reached today, I only did journalism. I tried to inform the public. I stand by what I wrote. We will see how the process unfolds in the coming days, thank you."
