Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravcı's first message to Earth is Atatürk's quote: 'The future is in the skies'
The first words from space by Alper Gezeravcı, who holds the title of the first Turkish astronaut, were the words of the founder of our Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk: "The future is in the skies."
SpaceX broadcast the initial thoughts and feelings of the Ax-3 crew, currently aboard the Dragon capsule on a 36-hour journey to the International Space Station (ISS), live on its X account.
HE ADDRESSED THE WORLD WITH ATATÜRK'S WORDS
The first Turkish astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı, began his first words from space by saying, "As the first Turk to step into space for Turkey's first manned space mission, I would like to start this moment with the words of our Great Ancestor: The brilliant words of the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; The future is in the skies."
Stating that everything he has experienced since the countdown has been a wonderful feeling, Gezeravcı said, "I have been dreaming of this for a long time. This is a wonderful feeling. Everything has been very good from the beginning until now."
Gezeravcı also commemorated those who have made great contributions to Turkey and lost their lives in this pursuit, emphasizing that he extends his individual thanks to everyone who contributed to the realization of this mission.
