At the Inter-Parliamentary Union United Nations Parliamentary Session, it was noted that the Turkish delegation was addressed as "Turkey." Selman Özboyacı, an AKP Konya MP representing Turkey, requested that the error be corrected, and the session moderator apologized for the mistake.

The United Nations Parliamentary Session was held at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA. Held under the theme "Accelerating Political Action for Sustainable Development Goals," one of the figures representing Turkey at the session was AK Party Konya MP Selman Özboyacı.

When Özboyacı applied to speak from his seat, an interesting dialogue took place with the session moderator.

While giving the floor to Özboyacı, the moderator said, "Delegate from Turkey, please..." However, despite it being officially recognized as "Türkiye" by the United Nations, the moderator used the English word "Turkey" at that moment.

'NOT TURKEY, TÜRKİYE'

According to the report in Sözcü, Özboyacı intervened in the situation and corrected the moderator as follows: "Thank you. First of all, it is no longer 'Turkey', it is now 'Türkiye'."

Following Özboyacı's warning, the moderator acknowledged the mistake, apologized, and used the term "Türkiye" instead of "Turkey."
