Unearthed after 88 years: Footage of Atatürk with children released for the first time

As Turkey celebrates the 103rd anniversary of the August 30 Victory Day with enthusiasm, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy shared historical footage that has come to light for the first time. The footage, which was in the archives of the General Directorate of Cinema, is estimated to have been filmed in 1935 or 1936.

The recording in question captures moments of the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with children who greeted him at the Florya Marine Mansion. These intimate images of Atatürk with children made the meaning of Victory Day even more special.

A MEANINGFUL MESSAGE FROM MINISTER ERSOY

In his message released for the August 30 Victory Day, Minister Ersoy drew attention to the significance of this footage. Ersoy stated the following:

“We are celebrating the 103rd anniversary of the crowning of our struggle for independence and future with victory with indescribable pride. I would like to share with you this footage of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, which has been brought to light by our General Directorate of Cinema and is being released for the first time. In this footage, thought to have been filmed in 1935 or 1936, the Great Leader is seen with children at the Florya Marine Mansion. With this unique footage, I congratulate our dear nation on the August 30 Victory Day, and I commemorate the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and our dear martyrs and veterans with mercy, gratitude, and respect.”
