In an apartment in the Huzurevleri neighborhood of Adana's Çukurova district, 31-year-old Engin Yüce, who allegedly had psychological issues, began arguing for an unknown reason with his girlfriend, Şevval Çiftçi, whom he had met at his home. As the argument escalated, Yüce attacked the young woman with a knife he took from the kitchen.

The young woman lost her life after receiving 10 stab wounds to her body. Engin Yüce then ended his own life by jumping from the balcony of his 12th-floor apartment following the murder.

6-PAGE LETTER EMERGES

When police teams arrived at the scene, they were met with a horrific sight. After conducting a detailed investigation of the home following the murder, the teams found a 6-page letter handwritten by Yüce on the dining table.

In the statements included in the letter, the suspect wrote:

“My mother and brother have been playing games on me for a long time. My mother conspired against me. I am about to go insane. I might kill my mother, or I might kill myself.”

GRIEVING MOTHER OVERCOME WITH TEARS

The young woman's lifeless body was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy. Her mother, Sibel Çiftçi, who arrived at the institute in the morning to receive her daughter's body, was overcome with tears.

It was learned that after the completion of the autopsy procedures, Şevval Çiftçi's body would be taken to the village of Boynuyoğunlu in the Andırın district of Kahramanmaraş, the family's hometown, to be laid to rest.

Following the murder, information regarding the young woman's family also emerged. It was learned that her father, Tayyar Çiftçi, works as a civilian employee at a police academy, and her mother, Sibel Çiftçi, is a housewife.
