Aydın Battal, who was a candidate for village head (muhtar) in the village of Aşağıhomurlu in the Akpınar district of Kırşehir during the March 31 Local Elections, did not get the result he expected.

Battal, who received 29 votes in an election with 300 voters and 3 candidates, expressed his grievances toward his relatives who did not vote for him with a poem he wrote. Battal's poem became a trending topic on social media.

Speaking to Show Haber, Battal stated that literature teachers had called him, saying, "The structure and rhyme are perfect. They told me, 'You won't be anything now, you'll be famous when you die.' But what am I going to do with fame when I'm dead?"

The poet candidate's wife, Döne Battal, said, "Even if he didn't become the village head, my husband made our village known. If they had elected my husband, he would have done much more. The villagers lost out."
