Voting for the word of 2024 has begun
A vote has been launched in collaboration with the Turkish Language Association (TDK) and Ankara University to determine the most meaningful word for 2024. Concepts such as "artificial intelligence," "compassion," and "algorithm" are among the seven words shortlisted.
In a statement made by the TDK, it was noted that words and concepts declared by many institutions around the world, while on one hand providing a renewed cultural production, on the other hand, serve as a means for issues to be analyzed and discussed through English.
"The word of the year 2024" vote, in this context, was stated to have been launched with the aim of strengthening the place of Turkish within global culture, supporting Turkey's power in the international arena culturally, and ensuring that people think about words.
