Wallet thrown in the trash saved by the meticulous work of cleaning staff

In the Kozan district of Adana, when a woman accidentally threw her wallet containing some money, a phone, and valuables into the trash, cleaning staff dumped the garbage from the truck, searched through it thoroughly, and returned the found wallet to the woman.

Sultan Gündeş's grandchildren accidentally threw her wallet into the trash on Yasemin Street in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood. When Gündeş realized her wallet was missing a short while later and asked her grandchildren, she learned it had been thrown away and immediately went to the location of the container. However, she could not find the wallet because the cleaning staff had already emptied the trash from the container into the truck. Upon this, Gündeş immediately applied to the municipality. Following the application, the garbage truck was identified, and all the trash was emptied by the cleaning staff to begin searching for the wallet. During the search, the woman's wallet, which contained some money, gold, and a mobile phone, was found and returned to her.

Explaining that her children had accidentally thrown the wallet away in a bag after she returned from the market, Sultan Gündeş said, "I was at home, there was trash in the kitchen. I told the children to take out the trash; they accidentally threw my wallet in the bag as well. May God be pleased with them, I called the municipality and asked for support, and they helped immediately. They dumped all that trash and went to such trouble. I thank the cleaning staff and the mayor very much," she said.

Kozan Municipality Cleaning Affairs Manager Fatih Ateş stated, "Upon a citizen telling us that she had thrown her wallet into the trash and that it contained valuables, we conveyed the issue to our Mayor, Mustafa Atlı. Following our Mayor's instruction to 'help the citizen immediately,' we brought our garbage truck to our cleaning affairs directorate and emptied the waste into an empty area. After our cleaning teams found the wallet among the waste in a short time, we delivered it to its owner. Seeing our citizen's sadness turn into joy also made all our cleaning team colleagues happy," he said.
