Warning from Ahmet Ercan after a quiet day in Sındırgı: I recommend staying alert for the next 3-4 days
While the ongoing earthquakes in Balıkesir-Sındırgı have caused fear among the public, experts are making statements regarding the seismic activity in the region. Most recently, following a quiet day, Övgün Ahmet Ercan issued an important warning regarding the area.
Issuing a warning via his social media account regarding the risk of a larger earthquake, Ercan stated that the silence could be interpreted either positively or negatively, and made the following statement:
"As of November 11, 2025, there have been 17 small aftershocks in Sındırgı larger than magnitude 4, with the largest being M 5.4.
Four of these earthquakes occurred in the last three days. It has been quiet today.
If a larger earthquake is to occur, it is expected to happen after a few days of silence.
I recommend that you stay alert as a precaution for the next 3 to 4 days. However, it is also possible that the expected earthquake will not occur and the activity will enter a damping phase. It is a difficult process for those living in Sındırgı.
I wish you patience and resilience.
With my love and respect."
