Warning from Germany to Assad supporters: 'We are on alert'

German Foreign Minister Baerbock, in an interview with the weekly newspaper Bild am Sonntag, stated that German authorities will not allow agents of the Assad regime to seek asylum in Germany, saying, "If any of Assad's torturers are currently thinking of fleeing to Germany, I can only say this clearly: We will hold all henchmen of the regime accountable for the horrific crimes they have committed with the full force of the law."

Baerbock also noted that it is important for international security authorities and intelligence services to work together as closely as possible at this time.

"WE ARE ON ALERT"

Interior Minister Nancy Faeser also underscored that Germany is implementing stricter border controls, stating, "We are extremely vigilant. If the henchmen of Assad's terror regime try to flee to Germany, they should know that there is no other country that pursues the crimes they have committed as strictly as Germany. This should deter them from daring to try."
