Warning from Özgür Özel to party members at the MYK meeting: 'Don't come to me with this'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel cut short his visit to the East and Southeast, which began in Diyarbakır, and returned to Ankara following the terrorist attack on TUSAŞ in Ankara.

"RIGHT TO LIFE RALLY" BROUGHT TO THE TABLE

In the later parts of the meeting, the "Right to Life Rally," which the CHP is preparing to hold in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, on October 27, was brought to the agenda. More than half of the MYK members stated that an environment of provocation had been created in Turkey and expressed that postponing the rally would yield healthier results.

The MYK members who suggested canceling the rally proposed that the October 29 Republic Day celebrations be held "more strongly" instead.

ÖZEL: "FRIENDS, PLEASE DON'T COME TO ME WITH THESE"

According to the report in Sözcü; after listening to the suggestions of the MYK members, Özel took the floor and stated that he did not agree with the views regarding the cancellation of the rally.

In his speech there, Özel said, "Friends, please don't come to me with these. I understand your concerns, but we cannot let them say 'The CHP was afraid of the impact created by terrorism,' we cannot let them say that. Let's hold our rally, and let's also embrace our Republic Day even more strongly."

Following Özel's objection, the CHP MYK decided during the night to proceed with the rally.
