Warnings to CHP from Yılmaz Özdil: 'Let me tell you...'

The 'softening/normalization' period between the CHP, which emerged victorious after the March 31 Local Elections, and the AKP government was short-lived. Following the end of this process, investigations were launched into numerous CHP-affiliated municipalities and figures. In addition to those detained as part of the investigations, some mayors have also been arrested.

Sözcü columnist Yılmaz Özdil evaluated the ongoing process in his column today.

Özdil issued warnings using a striking analogy.

Regarding the effect of siren sounds on ambulances, Yılmaz Özdil noted, 'The siren sound coming with a blare approaches bit by bit; it is loudest when it is right next to you, then it fades away, disappearing from both sight and hearing. You don't hear it anymore. This is called the Doppler effect. Actually, the sound waves are constant, but because the sound source is moving, you perceive it as growing louder as it approaches and fading as it moves away. You get anxious and worried as it approaches; you feel sad when it passes right by you; you might glance at it, say 'God help them,' or think 'what a pity' to yourself, but once it passes you and moves a little further away, you forget it. You don't even remember it a second later.' Özdil then assessed, 'The license plates of the ambulances are different, but the siren that is practically sending the Republican People's Party to the hospital, putting the party that came out far ahead in the last election on a ventilator, and loading every level from its party congress to its municipalities onto a stretcher—the siren that is coming in plain sight and blaring—is always the same siren. Pull over, let it pass. Don't break your composure, keep going. 'No stopping, keep going'—this must be it.'

'THE CHP IS ALREADY IN THE AMBULANCE...'

Stating that 'Since the CHP itself is already in the ambulance, it cannot be of any help to those being carried in these other ambulances,' the author issued the following warning at the end of his column:

'If this continues with this insensitivity, this indifference, this apathy, this lack of foresight, and this mindset... Let me tell you, it won't just end with a stretcher; God forbid, there is also a coffin involved in this business... One day we will look, and instead of an ambulance coming with sirens blaring, a hearse will pass by the CHP in silence!'
