In Istanbul's Arnavutköy district, BEDAŞ teams arrived at the scene following a report, only to cover the cables with soil they gathered from a grassy area so they would no longer be visible, and then left. The authorities' solution caused astonishment. Local resident Melek Ocak said, "The cables need to be fixed as soon as possible; our children play outside. We are very afraid, especially when it rains, that the same thing that happened in İzmir could happen to us. If it rains, or if a dog digs there, they will be exposed again."

An utility pole located next to a transformer on Mabeyn Street in the Merkez neighborhood of Arnavutköy was removed. Once the pole was removed, the electrical cables running under the sidewalk were exposed. A citizen who noticed the situation recorded a video and reported the incident to BEDAŞ. The BEDAŞ teams that went to the scene found a very strange solution for the exposed electrical cables. They took soil from a nearby grassy area, made the cables on the sidewalk invisible, and left the scene. The citizen who made the report recorded a new video and expressed their outrage at the situation.

The fact that two people lost their lives in İzmir recently due to similar negligence served as a reminder once again of how serious the consequences of such situations can be. Neighborhood residents stated that authorities must produce permanent and safe solutions for such dangerous situations and called for measures to be taken before more lives are lost.

'PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN NOW RATHER THAN LATER'

A local resident named Melek Ocak said, "The cables need to be fixed as soon as possible; our children play outside. We want a solution to be found as soon as possible."

Halil Uğurlu, who owns a business on the street, stated, "We encountered a sad incident as a result of negligence, and we are experiencing the same thing here right now. We park our vehicles here or use this road, and having it like this scares us. Precautions should be taken now rather than later. Measures must be taken before it is too late; if it rains or a short circuit occurs, a much bigger problem will arise."
