Weather obstacle for flights at Sabiha Gökçen Airport: Some flights cancelled
Following warnings issued in Istanbul, the expected adverse weather conditions have impacted flights. Some flights at Sabiha Gökçen Airport have been cancelled.
The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), AKOM, and the Istanbul Governor's Office have issued consecutive warnings. Due to the impact of Siberian cold fronts, snowfall is expected in Istanbul over the next two days. The forecasted adverse weather conditions have also affected flights.
Five percent of flights scheduled for tomorrow at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, and 10 percent of flights scheduled for Wednesday, have been cancelled.
Airport Management and Aeronautical Industries Inc. (HEAŞ) made a statement following the Meteorological Emergency Committee (MADKOM) meeting.
The statement included the following remarks:
“Due to the expected adverse meteorological conditions at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, 5 percent of flights on 11.02.2025 and 10 percent of flights on 12.02.2025 will be cancelled. All passengers are advised to check the latest status of their flights via the relevant airline's website and call centers."
