Wedding in prison: Buğra Gökce to marry at Marmara Prison

Buğra Gökce, the head of the Istanbul Planning Agency who was arrested on March 23 following operations targeting the IMM, announced in a message shared on his social media account that he will get married at the Marmara Closed Prison in Silivri.

Gökce, who began his post with the words, "My very dear friends, beloved companions, today I would like to share some news with you regarding my private life," stated the following:

"We did not want this detention or injustice to stand in the way of our 'marriage' decision, which we had previously planned for this summer with my dear 'life partner' Filiz Kahveci. We have decided not to give up on our dreams or our lives in the face of this injustice and oppression. Despite the bitterness we are experiencing, I must express that while sharing this happy and special news with you, we want to 'leave a note' in history from another perspective by marking this lawless period with a pure marriage.

Under the difficult and impossible conditions of prison, we cannot invite anyone to our wedding, which will take place on May 28, provided there are no setbacks. Even our families are subject to ministry permission! However, we already feel all of your sincere congratulations, warm wishes, and big hearts in our own. Thank you, may you exist. May everything always be better and happier for you. We wanted to share our joy and happiness with you, along with our sadness and bitterness. With our sincere love and greetings... Filiz-Buğra."
