Well-being Services Regulation published in the Official Gazette

Under the new regulation, services can be provided as a well-being center or a well-being unit. These centers and units can be opened within accommodation facilities, elderly care centers, disability care centers, and sports clubs, or they can operate in independent buildings.

Centers to be opened independently will be required to have a closed area of at least 500 square meters, while units must have at least 300 square meters. Licensing procedures will be carried out by provincial health directorates.

Personalized healthy living programs can be implemented

Applications offered in well-being centers will not be for treatment purposes; they can be planned specifically for the individual, taking into account their age, general health status, lifestyle, and risk factors. The services are aimed at supporting general well-being and maintaining a healthy life. It will be mandatory to have a full-time physician at the centers, and one of the physicians will serve as the responsible physician for the center. Other healthcare professionals will also be able to provide healthy living services within the scope of their duties and authorities.

Comprehensive well-being services can be provided

Within the scope of the regulation, it is aimed to offer many healthy living practices, primarily including services such as speech and language therapy, exercise and physical activity services, mud therapy, physiotherapy services, traditional and complementary medicine practices (GETAT), psychological support services, seawater and marine-based treatment methods, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, rehabilitation services, art therapies, sun therapy, thermal health therapies (spa), and salt therapy.

Well-being centers will be able to work in cooperation with hospitals and medical centers

Medical devices used in services related to the regulation can be kept with the permission of the Ministry of Health. For possible emergencies, centers will work in cooperation with a hospital or medical center and will have an emergency response room on their premises. Laboratory and imaging services can be provided through service procurement.

Well-being centers will also contribute to health tourism

With the new well-being model, it is aimed to effectively introduce "longevity" practices, which are becoming increasingly widespread globally, to Turkey and to develop health tourism services in this field.
