‘What does Israel's DAESH mean?’

TRT News drew criticism for the ISIS (DAESH) terminology used in a documentary promotion.

TRT Haber shared a promotion on its X account stating, “TRT World infiltrated Israel's DAESH and recorded the occupying brutality in the West Bank. The documentary 'Holy Occupation,' which reveals the dirty collaborations behind the massacres, will premiere on August 24.”

Ahmet Tezcan, who served as press advisor to President Erdoğan during his time as prime minister, reacted to the phrasing in the TRT documentary promotion: “TRT World infiltrated Israel's DAESH and recorded the occupying brutality in the West Bank.”

Ahmet Tezcan posted a message on his social media account: “A wrong promotion. What does Israel's DAESH mean? Who founded and created DAESH and made it a scourge for Muslims? DAESH means Israel and the US. Even Trump says this, so doesn't the phrase 'Israel's DAESH' imply ownership of the existing DAESH?”
