1564: The first “April Fools' Day” pranks began in France. According to the calendar changed that year, April 1st, which was considered the old New Year's Day, was replaced by the new New Year's Day, January 1st.

1778: Oliver Pollock created the dollar sign.

1826: Samuel Morey received the patent for the internal combustion engine.

1916: Mustafa Kemal was promoted to the rank of Colonel (Miralay).

1918: The liberation of Erciş and Gürpınar from enemy occupation.

1926: The law regarding the celebration of August 30th as “Victory Day” was adopted.
