What is happening at Boğaziçi: Controversial decision from Rector Naci İnci

According to an assignment directive from Rector Naci İnci at Boğaziçi University, instructors in the Advanced English unit and those in the preparatory unit have swapped positions.

According to the Rectorate's decision dated June 14, 2024, Boğaziçi University's decision taken on June 14, 2024, saw Advanced English unit instructors Nilgün Fırat, Gözde Han, and Nazım Çapkın from the School of Foreign Languages (YADYO) reassigned by the rectorate to the preparatory unit. Instructors from the Preparatory Unit were moved to the Advanced English Unit.

Speaking to Cumhuriyet regarding the matter, Dr. Nazım Çapkın, an instructor in the YADYO Advanced English Unit, stated that the competencies of their unit and the preparatory unit are different, asserting that the decision has no scientific basis. Çapkın commented on the issue, saying, "It is clear that there is no public interest here. They say it is due to rotation, but there is no information as to why this is being done. It is an arbitrary assignment. We went through different recruitment processes compared to the preparatory unit."
