What is the Hırka-i Şerif?

The Hırka-i Şerif is a sacred relic belonging to Prophet Muhammad. It was brought to Istanbul and protected following the Egyptian Campaign of Yavuz Sultan Selim (1517) during the Ottoman period. The Hırka-i Şerif is kept in the Hırka-i Şerif Mosque in Fatih and is opened for visits during the month of Ramadan. This cloak, which has great spiritual value for Muslims, has been carefully protected and preserved through generations within a special tradition.
