Which country do citizens see as a threat to Turkey?
MetroPOLL Research has conducted a striking survey revealing which country Turkey views as its greatest external threat. According to the results, 52.5 percent of the public identified the USA as the biggest threat.
MetroPOLL Research Company Founder and Manager Özer Sencar shared the results of a notable survey regarding Turkey's perception of external threats on his social media account.
In the survey titled "The greatest threat to Turkey," participants were asked, "In your opinion, from which country does the greatest threat to Turkey come?"
The responses to this open-ended question were ranked as follows:
- USA: 52.5%
- Israel: 19.2%
- Syria: 3.0%
These three countries were followed by Russia, Iran, Greece, Germany, and China, respectively. On the other hand, 12.1% of participants did not express an opinion, responding with "I have no idea."

While the survey results show that the threat perception in Turkey is largely directed toward the USA, countries such as Israel and Syria also appeared in the notable ranking.
