'While a spring breeze is blowing...' Sabah columnist's take on Ayhan Bora Kaplan: 'Similar to December 17-25...'

'While a spring breeze is blowing...' Sabah columnist's take on Ayhan Bora Kaplan: 'Similar to December 17-25...'

Serdar Sertçelik, who is being tried on allegations of being the number two man in the criminal organization led by Ayhan Bora Kaplan, recently announced that he was a secret witness in the case.

"IT IS TERRIFYING"

Addressing the developments, Sabah columnist Mahmut Övür said, "While a spring breeze is blowing in politics, a completely different wind is blowing in the police bureaucracy, or rather, a storm is breaking. It is incomprehensible; in a country that has experienced the FETÖ scourge in the recent past and ultimately paid the price with a bloody occupation and coup attempt like July 15, while we were thinking that such things would never happen again, what is happening within the police force today is terrifying."

"WHEN FETÖ IS INVOLVED, THE COLOR OF THE MATTER CHANGES"

Emphasizing that what is happening in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan case cannot be dismissed as an ordinary mafia scandal, Övür commented, "When police chiefs, police commanders currently in office, the media, and FETÖ are involved, the color of the matter changes."

"FLED ABROAD"

Noting that the main reason the incident reached this point and turned into a scandal is the "allegation that this group within the Ankara Police was preparing a deep operation against politics and politicians," Övür shared the following information: "Regarding this tremendous allegation, a secret witness, which is a typical FETÖ method, is currently being talked about frequently as 'M7'. His name is Serdar Sertçelik... He was the second man of the mobster Ayhan Bora Kaplan. He was arrested and gave a 17-page statement. Because he was a secret witness, he was released with an electronic tag. In the meantime, he was shot and fled abroad."

"LIKE THE 17-25 OPERATION"

Recalling Sertçelik's claim that "A template was to be created regarding these people, including former Ministers of Justice Bekir Bozdağ and Abdülhamit Gül, MP Mücahit Aslan, Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, Halkbank General Manager Osman Arslan, and Sadık Soylu. They asked me to add these names to my statement as a secret witness," Övür assessed, "In other words, just like FETÖ, police chiefs currently in office are having a mafia tool give a statement to accuse the aforementioned political actors. It is like a new 17-25 judicial operation. Whether the target is President Erdoğan and the AK Party government is not yet fully clear in the background, but even this much is chilling. That is why the relevant police chiefs and officers were suspended and a broad investigation was launched."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Sertçelik had claimed that he became a "secret witness" under pressure from police officers affiliated with the Ankara Police and that he was directed by the police regarding the content of his secret witness statement. Sertçelik alleged that he was forced by the police to name certain AKP officials in an additional statement. Following Sertçelik's allegations, Deputy Ankara Police Chief Murat Çelik, Organized Crime Branch Manager Kerem Öner, and Branch Deputy Manager Şevket Demircan were suspended following an inspector's report.
