WHO IS ERTUĞRUL ÖZKÖK?

Ertuğrul Özkök is a journalist and academic born on April 8, 1947, in İzmir. After graduating from İzmir Namık Kemal High School, he completed his undergraduate studies at the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, School of Press and Broadcasting. He earned his doctorate in Communication Sciences in France and began his academic career as a faculty member at Hacettepe University, receiving the title of associate professor in 1986.

Continuing his journalism career at Hürriyet newspaper, Özkök served as the newspaper's Editor-in-Chief for approximately 20 years. During this period, he also served in the newspaper's Ankara and Moscow bureaus. In addition to journalism, Özkök has written various books; his works include Sanat, İletişim ve İktidar (Art, Communication and Power, 1977), Elveda Başkaldırı (Goodbye Rebellion, 1987), and Bir Beyaz Türk’ün Hafıza Defteri (The Memory Notebook of a White Turk, 2014).
