Güney Temiz, who worked as a journalist in İzmir for many years, served as the former Deputy Mayor of Karşıyaka, and was the Head of the Press, Broadcasting and Public Relations Department of the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, has passed away. 

WHY DID TEMİZ LOSE HIS LIFE?

According to the information provided, Temiz passed away last night as a result of a heart attack.

MAYORS OF İZMİR AND MANISA METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITIES RELEASED MESSAGES

İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Cemil Tugay released a message following Temiz's passing: "I am deeply saddened by the loss of Güney Temiz, a beloved and hardworking journalist of the İzmir press with whom I worked for a period, and the Head of the Press Department of the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, who passed away at a young age due to a heart attack. I wish God's mercy upon our brother Güney and offer my condolences to his loved ones and family. May he rest in peace." 

Following Temiz's passing, Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek also released a message of condolence. The message stated: "We are in mourning... I am deeply saddened by the loss of my colleague, my companion, and our Head of the Press Department, Güney Temiz, at a young age due to a sudden heart attack. My brother Güney held a special place in all of our lives, not only with his professional success but also with his friendship, sincerity, and beautiful heart. I offer my condolences to the Temiz family and all of Güney's friends who loved him. May he rest in peace." 

WHEN WILL THE FUNERAL BE HELD?

Güney Temiz's funeral will be brought to the front of the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality building on March 28 (today) at 13:00, and will subsequently be laid to rest at 14:00 in the Kumkuyucak neighborhood of Manisa's Saruhanlı district.

WHO IS GÜNEY TEMİZ?

After completing his undergraduate education at Ege University Faculty of Communication, Güney Temiz began his professional career as a reporter in İzmir. He later continued his work in Ankara. Temiz, who held a master's degree in Public Administration and Political Science, took on leadership roles in non-governmental organizations and served as a provincial executive in the CHP during his youth.

Throughout his career, he held positions such as parliamentary advisor, general secretary advisor, and press advisor at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Additionally, having served as a director and deputy mayor at the Karşıyaka Municipality, Temiz was appointed as a department head at the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality following the 2024 local elections.

Responsible for protocol affairs in Manisa and the organization of Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek's field work, Temiz was serving as the Head of the Press, Broadcasting and Public Relations Department.
