Who is Hamdi Ulukaya, one of the world's 100 most powerful business people?

The US-based Fortune magazine has published its "100 Most Powerful People in Business" list. While business people of all ages were included in the list, a Turkish name also made the cut.

WHO IS HAMDI ULUKAYA?

Hamdi Ulukaya was born on October 26, 1972, in Erzincan. Growing up as the child of a family involved in dairy farming in the İliç district of Erzincan, Ulukaya completed his early education in Erzincan.

Ulukaya, who studied Political Science and Public Administration at Ankara University, decided to go to the US in 1994 to learn English. In 1997, he continued his education at the University of Albany.

In 2002, upon his father's advice, Hamdi Ulukaya established a small feta cheese factory, but he achieved his major success in 2005 by purchasing a closed yogurt factory in New York and taking the risk involved.

Although he had no experience in the yogurt sector, he built the Chobani brand from scratch to reach 1 billion dollars in sales. By 2011, it had become the leading yogurt brand in the US.

He ranked 10th on the "Forbes Turkey Billionaires List" announced by Forbes magazine in 2024, with a net worth of 2.3 billion dollars.
