WHO IS İNAN KIRAÇ?

İnan Kıraç is a Turkish businessman and industrialist born in Eskişehir in 1937. He began his business career at the age of 24 in 1961 as a sales clerk at Ormak A.Ş., a subsidiary of the Koç Group. In 1966, he was appointed General Manager of Otoyol, the manufacturer of Fiat trucks and midibuses, and in 1970, he became the General Manager of Tofaş Oto Ticaret, which handled the marketing and distribution of Fiat automobiles produced in Turkey. Subsequently, he was appointed Vice President responsible for Tofaş at Koç Holding, and later as President of the Koç Holding Automotive Group.

Serving as the CEO of Koç Holding until 1998, İnan Kıraç played a significant role in the development of the Turkish automotive sector and led the construction of many large factories. That same year, he co-founded the Kıraça Group of Companies with Claude Nahum.

İNAN KIRAÇ'S CAREER

After serving as an executive in the Koç Group for many years, İnan Kıraç was appointed CEO of Koç Holding and subsequently retired upon reaching the age limit. Following his retirement, he purchased Karsan from the Koç Group and expanded the company, while also venturing into various other businesses and establishing Kıraç Holding.

In 2000, together with his wife Suna Kıraç, he founded the "Suna and İnan Kıraç Research Institute on Mediterranean Civilizations" at the Antalya Kaleiçi Museum. In 2003, he established the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation, which operates in the fields of culture, arts, and education, and opened the Pera Museum under the foundation in 2005.

On March 1, 2007, he and his wife Suna Kıraç founded the Istanbul Research Institute. This institute aims to support research on the Ottoman, Istanbul, Byzantine, and Republican periods.

HE DISINHERITED HIS DAUGHTER İPEK KIRAÇ

Businessman İnan Kıraç had announced that he had disinherited his daughter İpek Kıraç, whom he had with Suna Kıraç, the daughter of Vehbi Koç. This decision by Kıraç, one of Turkey's prominent businessmen, to disinherit her had come to the agenda with allegations that it was taken to take over all of her assets.

In accordance with his wife Suna Kıraç's will, İnan Kıraç had requested an injunction on the 20.13 percent stake in Temel Ticaret ve Yatırım AŞ belonging to his daughter İpek Kıraç, and after the full ownership of these shares passed to İpek Kıraç, he requested that 25 percent of the shares be registered in his own name based on the Civil Code. İpek Kıraç, in turn, filed a lawsuit against her father, claiming that İnan Kıraç had engaged in and was continuing to engage in acts of asset concealment. Furthermore, İpek Kıraç had requested the seizure of her father's assets.
