WHO IS ŞİŞLİ MAYOR RESUL EMRAH ŞAHAN, WHERE IS HE FROM? 

Born in 1982, Resul Emrah Şahan was born in Ankara. Having completed his university education at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Şahan began his career as an urban planner within the Istanbul Metropolitan Planning (İMP) organization. He took his first steps into the business world by founding a company operating in the software and media sectors between 2006 and 2011. In 2012, he turned his focus to working in the field of local government.

Serving as a Project Coordinator in the Beylikdüzü Municipality Technical Coordination and Projects Unit between 2014 and 2019, Şahan moderated a team focused on urban policies during the 2019 Local Elections. Elected as a Council Member for both the Şişli Municipality and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in the same year, Şahan served as Deputy Mayor of Şişli from 2019 to 2023. In addition, he held the positions of President of the Istanbul Planning Agency and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Boğaziçi Landscape Construction Consultancy Technical Services Inc. (BİMTAŞ).

Also actively involved in the work of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB), Şahan was elected Mayor of Şişli in the 2024 Local Elections. Resul Emrah Şahan is married and a father of one daughter.

Furthermore, Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık was also among those detained.
