WHO IS VELİ AĞBABA?

Ağbaba was born in 1968 in Karaca, a village in the Yazıhan district of Malatya. Ağbaba attended Malatya Namık Kemal Primary School, then moved on to Sümer Middle School and subsequently Turan Emeksiz High School. Veli Ağbaba was one of the last graduates of this high school.

He completed his higher education between 1985 and 1989 at the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Anadolu University in Eskişehir. After completing his military service, he became a member of the SHP in 1993. In 1994, he was elected as a member of the Malatya Municipal Council and became the youngest Municipal Council Group Chairman in Turkey. He was elected as the CHP Provincial Treasurer in 1995, CHP Provincial Education Secretary in 1998, and served as a CHP convention delegate for 4 terms.

Veli Ağbaba, who was elected as the CHP Provincial Chairman on January 18, 1999, became a parliamentary candidate in the November 3, 2002 elections.

Veli Ağbaba, who was elected as a Malatya MP for the 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th terms, was re-elected as a Malatya MP for the 28th term from the CHP in the May 14, 2023 elections.

In the March 31 local elections, Veli Ağbaba was the candidate for Mayor of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality from his party, the CHP.

Ağbaba is married and a father of two.
