Why couldn't the fire in Kartalkaya be intervened in immediately? Here are the striking details

The fire that broke out in a hotel located in the Kartalkaya area of Bolu in recent weeks caused a great stir both in Turkey and around the world. Mehmet Ali Tekin, who went to Kartalkaya from Alanya with his family for the semester break and was staying at a hotel near the one where the fire occurred, shared his thoughts on the incident. Tekin said, "The fire department had difficulty intervening because the areas where vehicles were parked hindered the response due to incorrect landscaping in the parking lot. This led to a higher loss of life in the fire."

'THE LOSS OF LIFE INCREASED DUE TO LACK OF EXTERNAL PRECAUTIONS AS MUCH AS DEFICIENCIES INSIDE THE HOTEL'

The major fire at the hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya resulted in the loss of 78 lives. The Tekin family, who spent their semester break in Kartalkaya, described what they experienced during the fire. Civil engineer Mehmet Ali Tekin stated, "The rapid spread of the fire and the delayed intervention were caused by the lack of external precautions as much as the deficiencies inside the hotel. This is why such a loss of life occurred."

Stating that he helped a father and his daughter during the fire, Tekin said, "The images of a father trying to throw his child from the window went viral in Turkey. An ambulance took that family, the mother and the 2-month-old baby girl. However, since there was no room left, I took the father and his daughter to the hospital in my own car." Describing the health status of the father and child he took to the hospital, Tekin said, "They are in good health; they stayed in the hospital for one day and then returned to Istanbul. But unfortunately, these were the lucky ones," he expressed.

'PEOPLE IN THAT AREA WERE PRACTICALLY LEFT TO DIE'

Stating that the flammable properties of the materials used in the hotel were effective in the growth of the fire, Tekin drew attention to the seriousness of the incident by saying, "After the fire started, the flammable materials in the hotel, the absence of a sprinkler system and fire extinguishers, and the inability to reach the emergency stairs caused the fire to spread rapidly. We are only talking about one part of the hotel; no one saw the facade facing the ski slope. The people in that area were practically left to die. When all these negligences came together, such a great loss of life occurred."
