Will schools be closed in Sivas following the earthquake?

Two major earthquakes occurred in the central district of Sivas, with a magnitude of 4.7 at 11:29 and 4.1 at 11:39.

The earthquake was felt in Sivas, as well as in Tokat and surrounding provinces.

Following the earthquake, many school buildings in Sivas were evacuated.

AFAD, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, and the Sivas Governor's Office announced that there were no negative incidents.

While there were no reports of destruction or injuries in the two earthquakes measuring 4.7 and 4.1 that occurred 10 minutes apart in Sivas, minor cracks formed in adobe houses. Schools have been closed.

According to initial assessments, no destruction occurred in the 4.7-magnitude earthquake at 11:29 and the 4.1-magnitude earthquake that followed 10 minutes later in Sivas. Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek stated in his announcement that they had not received any reports regarding either earthquake. It was learned that minor cracks formed in adobe houses located in the villages of Hacıali and Ağılkaya.

In his statement, Şimşek said, "I convey my best wishes to all my fellow citizens affected by the two earthquakes centered in the Hacıali and Ağılkaya villages of Sivas's central district, measuring 4.7 and 4.1. Necessary inspections are continuing throughout the province. So far, no negative situations or reports have been received."

On the other hand, an announcement made on the official social media accounts of the Sivas Governor's Office stated that schools were closed for half a day.
