ON WHICH OCCASIONS HAS TURKEY DECLARED MOURNING?
Turkey declared its first national mourning on November 10, 1938, following the passing of the founder of the Republic, the great leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Subsequently, a national day of mourning was declared in 1973 for the 2nd President of the Republic of Turkey, İsmet İnönü.

Most recently, no further mourning decisions had been made following the declaration of national mourning after the attack on civilians in Gaza.
The decision for a national day of mourning is made by the Presidency, and it is not yet known whether President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan will declare a period of mourning.
