Woman in Kocaeli sets fire to the home of her husband who filed for divorce: Sat on the stairs and watched the fire

The fire occurred on the 3rd floor of a 3-story house located on Ayaz Street in the Yenimahalle neighborhood of the İzmit district in Kocaeli.

According to the information obtained, there was severe incompatibility between İbrahim Bıyıkoğlu (62) and S.B. (39), who were married 15 months ago. Due to the couple's inability to get along, Bıyıkoğlu filed for divorce 5 days ago through his lawyers.

During the divorce process, the woman stayed on the 3rd floor of the house, while her husband began staying on the 2nd floor. Today, it is alleged that S.B., who had packed her belongings, set the house on fire and sat in front of the door. Bıyıkoğlu and his daughter-in-law, who witnessed the moment, recorded the events with a mobile phone camera and notified the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Upon notification, fire, health, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The fire brigade, which arrived at the scene in a short time, extinguished the fire, and the woman was taken into custody. Upon S.B.'s request for the belongings she had prepared, police teams retrieved them as well.

While the entire 3rd floor was burned due to the fire, the police have launched an investigation into the incident.

"WE HAVE BEEN TO THE POLICE STATION 3-4 TIMES, SHE SAID 'I WILL BURN THE HOUSE' AND INDEED SHE DID"

Speaking about the events, İbrahim Bıyıkoğlu said, "I spoke with my lawyer a week ago. I said that my wife's mental health was unstable. I said, 'Remove the woman from the house, I don't want her.' We have been to the police station 3-4 times. I went and filed for divorce on Monday; I told the lawyers, 'remove the woman from the house.' I went to the police station again to request that they remove the woman from the house, but they said they couldn't do anything because there was a prosecutor's decision. I said, 'The woman has psychological problems, I am living in fear, they gave the woman to me on purpose.' Before we got married, her older sister told me, 'Wait 4 months, she will bother you, you won't be able to stay with her.' 4 months later, our problems really started. I didn't experience the problems I had in my 15-month marriage in 30 years with my late wife. I have no patience left, my children were restless, she walked over them. She committed violence against my daughter-in-law. She was using profanity and insults. We were disgraced in the neighborhood. S.B. is my second wife, we married 15 months ago. I endured this woman's misery for 15 months, but come and ask me what I went through. She had already said 'I will burn the house' and indeed she burned it. I saw that she was preparing her belongings and going outside as the fire started. My mental state has collapsed," he said.
