In Ordu, police teams acting on a tip-off detained Bilge Ç. (27), the mother of a baby girl born on September 11, 2022. Upon noticing the baby was not in the house, the police questioned the woman and learned during the interrogation that she had buried the baby. Following the woman's confession, police teams searched the field across from their house and recovered the baby, who had been buried inside something resembling a trash bag.

SHE HAD BEEN RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL AT THE FIRST HEARING

The baby's body was sent to the Ordu Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy. Mother Bilge Ç., who was arrested by the judgeship to which she was referred following the incident, had been released under judicial control at her first hearing, taking into account the collection of evidence, the possibility of a change in the nature of the crime, and the time she had spent in detention.

Following the statements taken at the 2nd hearing held on September 26, 2023, the prosecution's opinion was presented. In the opinion, it was requested that no penalty be imposed on the grounds that there was no intent to kill and the cause of death was unknown. At the 3rd hearing held on October 12, 2023, the testimony of nurse S.F., who cared for the baby after birth at the hospital, was taken as a witness, and the hearing was adjourned to a later date.

''I BURIED THE BABY A DAY BEFORE, I KEPT IT IN THE ATTIC UNTIL THEN''

At the 4th hearing held today, where an opinion for no penalty had been submitted, Bilge Ç.'s statement was taken again. Mother Bilge Ç. stated in her testimony that she came home after being discharged, that there was no one at home, and that she gave the baby a bath. Claiming that she spent some time and went to sleep in the evening, Bilge Ç. said, “I woke up when the day broke in the morning; in the meantime, I realized the baby was not breathing. When I realized she was dead, I got scared and left her in the attic of the building where I lived. The baby was in the attic until the day before I gave my statement at the police station. I buried the baby across from the house at around 01:30 on a rainy evening, one day before coming to the police station.”

HTS RECORDS SHOWED SIGNALS FROM DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AFTER RETURNING FROM THE HOSPITAL

The court panel presented that mother Bilge Ç., who claimed she was at home and sleeping after returning from the hospital, had HTS records at different times, and that her mobile phone received signals from different points in the Altınordu district and from the Perşembe district.
Upon this, mother Bilge Ç. claimed that she did not leave the house and did not accept the HTS records. The court panel decided to re-arrest mother Bilge Ç., to continue the collection of evidence, and to adjourn the hearing to a later date.
