Work begins on new economic package: Bad news for artists, athletes, and jewelers

 Within the scope of the regulation expected to be submitted to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in October, taxation will be ensured for groups that own million-dollar homes and cars but pay no taxes. In this context, many segments from artists to athletes and jewelers are under scrutiny.

While work continues on legislative proposals that will come to the agenda with the opening of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on October 1, a second economic package is also expected to come to the agenda with the new legislative year.

Before the Parliament went on recess, a law containing regulations in areas such as corporate tax was passed, but other regulations could not be completed.

'TAXING LESS FROM THOSE WHO EARN LESS, AND MORE FROM THOSE WHO EARN MORE'

According to the report by Zübeyde Yalçın from Sabah newspaper, the regulations regarding taxes in the new package will be within the scope of the policy of "taxing less from those who earn less, and more from those who earn more." While new steps are expected to be taken to prevent informality in taxes, groups that earn millions of liras, live in luxury homes, drive luxury cars, and have low tax payments have been placed under close follow-up.

While efforts are being made to include regulations in the proposal that will ensure these segments pay a minimum rate of tax, which segments will fall under this scope is also being studied in detail.

While the statements of AK Party officials regarding their intention to establish a system where "less tax is taken from those who earn less, and more from those who earn more" are being followed, the statements were as follows:

“We will put an end to informality. Everyone will pay tax on what they earn. The new legislative proposal will include measures aimed at this. You look and see someone driving a car worth millions of liras. They have a life of luxury but pay no taxes. We are examining these groups one by one. A detailed study will be conducted regarding artists, athletes, jewelers, or other groups. Their informality will be prevented.”
